I want to share a topic how to set a goal that actually, you can get resolved to actually motivate yourself throughout the process that you can actually achieve what you wanted to achieve from the beginning. So it's the beginning of the year, a lot of people are starting their new year's resolutions. And let me guess you probably experienced this like I did before. So you said you're very excited at the beginning of the year is that isn't that several new year's resolutions, and then towards the end of the year, you check back and you didn't really achieve it, or you feel very depleted when you were about to set a new year's resolution for the next year. So over the year, as I am very obsessed with personal development, I've been learning so many different ways and testing many different ways to set a new year's resolution.

And these are the three ways that I actually use and worked on me and I want to share it Just three tips today, before we get started, I actually want to mention this concept in terms of setting goals, to distinguish the goals that are the things that we do on a daily basis, they are urgent versus important. So we all know that on a daily basis, or weekly basis, we all have urgent things to do in life, including to eat, we need to exercise we need to take care of family, and work or study. It could be that we have to finish things that in time in a tight timeline, or we have intent to our customers or clients, or you have to do some urgent inquiry versus important things. So what are the important things in life in life? It could be, you want to pick up a new view, you want to learn an instrument, you want to learn martial art.

You want to build up your whole muscle instead of doing cardio. In work, what are important things you could be like you need to pick up leadership skills. You want to Learn how to be a better manager, or you just want to learn a new skill or a new set of ideas. So at the beginning of the year, I actually sat down which I encourage you to do it as well have two columns of the things that you wanted to achieve. What are the urgent things, it could be on a daily basis, it could be on a weekly or quarterly basis, and what are important things because that's the important things are the ones we always meet, we don't have time or push back. However, our daughter has much longer can benefit from our life that's supposed to help us grow that makes us happy on a long term basis.

So bear in mind, those two groups of things, distinguish those two groups. And then that's how we're going to get started with the three tips that I'm going to share today. So I have here actually my weekly plan. So everything is implemented into a very simply weekly schedule with a very flowery, pleasant color that tourism So I have a yearly plan, which is more like a vision board, I have everything that I want to achieve that aspires me. I also have a monthly plan of the things that also categorized into what's important and what's, what's urgent, as well as the weekly one. So let's get started.

The first one is actually inspiration from a culture that really like her name is Daniel port, you probably heard of her. She was talking about in her book, The Firestarter sessions, she was actually talking about setting goals based on the feeling, because think about it, right? We're trying to set goals we're trying to achieve things are because we want you to feel the feeling that we have that achievement, that fulfillment. So I would encourage you to actually think about what's the feeling or what's the status what what do you really want behind every and each goal. For example, you want to have your salary increased by 10%. So what do you want to do with that 10% probably you want to go for the holiday or you probably want to upgrade your holiday, you want to you want to do it with business clause or you want to go for fine dining, or you want to invest in yourself, learn salsa dancing, or just have really good hair treatment.

And what does that make you probably feel like Oh, I'm so beautiful. I love myself but like, I love the smell of my hair or imagine you're on a tropical beach and then you're looking at the ocean. And that just feels so relaxing and so fun. So think about the feelings that you want to achieve. And we want to implement those feelings or keep remind ourselves of the feelings, embedded them into your goal because that is the trick to help you motivated through the process and help you really setting the goals that that's motivating yourself. That's we're not setting goals that don't you're not connected with you are not energetically resonating.

Another way to do it is actually think, think about the goals and feelings and you want to build for the new year in different areas. For example, I want to have, I want to call the feeling of expand, I want to have more connections, I want to reach out to more people, I want to reach out to 10 times more than I did last year. And the second tip, the second tip is finding the easiest, easiest way to do it. It's inspiration from another guru of mine, Tim Ferriss, and he said he, in an interview, he said, If I were to give advice, as a 40 year old me to 30 year old me, I would always ask myself, what's the easiest way to do it? And that's really great. I've taken his approach and set up some goals in that way and worked perfectly last year, including my youtube channel in which you're looking at so this year again, what's the easiest way ever recorded, I set up?

I asked myself what is the easiest way to do it. One example again, from my life. Being an entrepreneur, you can be juggling many different stuff. So their main work their customer service and marketing their sales, and getting During the service itself as well, it was one of my favorite dedicated tasks. But this year, one of the easiest way is actually dedicated to the marketing side, especially Chinese market side to inter trusting other people training them to do the work. And I asked them to put creative ideas.

And it was so fun. So as you just wait for how, how can you do things, it could be you too tired to go to gym because you can't find your gym clothes. your closet is always so messy. So maybe just put your gym clothes bad, or that it was finding the closest gym to yourself, or in traveling to gym make some distance consider finding a gym close to a work or maybe buying a bike to go to the gym make it easier or fun at the same time. Another thing might be you want to expand your professional network or you just want to expand your network on the general basis, which comes from business. A question actually comes from a meetup running To naturally network, and people often.

So think about what's the easiest way to network or get to know more people, instead of the traditional or the harder way of going to networking events, which sounds intimidating and very hard to accomplish, and a lot of courage and that time that you need to commute there. What about us online, maybe you can use LinkedIn maybe so fate of Facebook, maybe you're even your own, or start with people within your social circle already. introduce people to you and then instead, maybe you can help something is that to them or even just buying a coffee or having a nice brunch together. So make it easy for yourself and start with what you already have. And also make the process fun as well. That tip number two, tip number three is time blocking.

Or you may have heard of this concept of tomato time. I've been you fully concentrate on doing something which you Almost, it's actually an app that can prevent anything from disturbing you from social media from texting, anything you can imagine. And so what I'm saying is time blocking, I've been allocating certain period of time, normally not very long, just for the things that you want to do. And during that period of time, you're very focused on that thing. And that thing only this this particular technique, or just tip number three, is very good for important things in our lives. Remember, as beginning I mentioned that we do things either urgent or important and we always push back important.

So for this one is very good to use on the things that you find very important, because we tend to push it. So if you blocked a time in your in your calendar, just for that purpose, you would do it anyway. But the trick with that is probably reduce this module. For example, people would struggle with going to exercise probably don't have a chunk of time, like half an hour, one hour every day. Then maybe you can replay It was 310 minutes 10 minutes in the morning, lunchtime and 10 minutes in the afternoon. Yes, the result of that may not be as substantial as going to a chunk of time.

And the power of accumulation always works. And just like learning to draw or learning to, to write down your own novel or something you always wanted to do, maybe just allocate 10 or 20 times a day or every every week, but you're doing something that's, that has much more substantial effect on your own life, on your own happiness on your own scope. And blocking this time. I just have 10 minutes to sit down and do as much as I can. I'm not attached to the outcome. I'm also obsessed about I have to do certain things within this time.

Block that time just for yourself for things that's important. Okay, guys, those are three tips that I find is really helpful in terms of setting my own New year, new year resolutions, which I actually successfully carried through last year. Another little tip is maybe setting a goal on a weekly basis, I mean like subdividing your goals into a weekly basis, which is what I have here and I also have some theory based things as well to keep myself positive and motivated.
