All right. Hi guys. Welcome back. Alexis Parris here. So welcome to the second video in this class and this one I'm specifically teaching you how to seamlessly cut your videos and how to add titles. The great thing about titles is that you can manipulate them to be anything that you want.

And with cutting, you really have to be precise so that the video doesn't look choppy bear looks smooth, and it's easy to follow. So I'm going to show you what I do to make both of those things happen. So first, I'm going to start with cutting your video. And this video is a great case study because I messed up a couple of times, so you'll know and you'll see the difference when I cut the video. So when I'm editing my videos in here, I really like to use hotkeys. So little shortcut keys that really get the job done.

So for cutting on my computer, I hit command B and it splits the track. So this is the track here. And when I need to split the track, usually this red thing pops up and all I need to do do is press Command B and they'll split. So I'll show that you I'll show that to you in a second. You can also go here and hit the blade, and wherever you place the blade, it will cut it as well. Okay, so first I'm just going to play the video see where I messed up and cut it nicely.

Okay, see there. So, um, after I say hi, everyone needs to cut it before I say hi everyone again. So I'm going to stop here, and this is like your marker, this gray line here that marks that marks where you are in the video. So right here, I'm just going to press Command B, you see how it splits my track. You can see here, you can zoom in down here, and kind of the middle section of the frame. You can zoom into your clip, you can better see that I split it right there.

So now I'm just gonna Select that portion and simply press Delete so it's gone. So now it is smooth. There's no too high everyone's right. So now I'm listening for any other places I need to cut the video. That's usually when what you want to start out with anytime you're doing a video, you want to see okay, what do I need to cut out so I can make my job easier. So I'm just going to play the rest of it through.

It's a very short video, I think it's about a minute, and then we're going to go on to adding titles. Okay, so I said hi everyone again, so I don't need all of the information up until this point. So don't need all of this information up here. I can cut it out. Sorry, right before I say Hi everyone, I'm going to split the clip again with command B. And I'll show you the different options so you can go here, get the blade and just slice it and spices it there.

But make sure you go back and hit the pointer again so you can do what you need to do. So you can select it and simply press Delete. It's gone. Now it's seamless again. Okay, so I could cut out that part. So I say hi everyone again, so I'm gonna cut right before I say hi.

Okay, stop. Me do come in be. Oh, no, I don't want to undo anything to undo anything I used to do is Command Z, undo it. So I'm just gonna undo that slice there. My slice here, so command B, and select it. You race today said that perception is reality and it's true.

So I want you to perceive something massive all at one time. I want you to think of it as something smart, daily and below that something massive. So how can you improve the lives of other people daily? How can you make someone smile? How can you reenact innovation with the content you post on social media? Right?

How can you make someone else's life better? Because I agree with Bill Smith, he said, if you're not making someone else's, like better every single day, then you're wasting your time. So think about that difference. Alright, so nothing else I need to cut which is good. If your video is a speaking video and you need to cut out filler words you can do so as well with the same tactic. Or if you're just cutting for creative video, you can do the same thing.

So I'm not going to cut anything else. And that's how you cut seamlessly. Just all you really have to do is listen and see like right before the necessary part that you cut all of the junk that you don't need and make it smooth. Okay, now the second part of this video is to teach you how to utilize titles. And so to find the titles, you're going to go over here and click the T for titles, okay, and you have all these different options, all these different effects and you when you have time you can play around I'm simply going to use custom because it's easy to manipulate. And it's a good one to start out with.

So, for me, you see that on my video, I have these two bars, right, so you can creatively put a title up here and keep it the same throughout the entire video and then have like subtitles at the bottom. So that's what I'm going to show you how to do. So to get a title, you can simply click on the title and drag it to where you need it to be. So I need this title to start from the very beginning. I need it to play out to the I need it to play out throughout the entire video so that I can leave it at the very top of this video and into extend the length or decrease the length of your title. You simply hover and wait until you see these to this like adjuster icon and you're going to drag it to how far you need it to be.

So for me, I need it to be at the very end you get to be as long as the video so I dragged it to the very end Now let's manipulate the title, simply double click. And all of its information will pull up on the right hand side of your final cut pro space, and will also appear on top of the video. And the great thing about this is that you can move the positioning of your title. So for me, I said I needed it at the very top. So I'm just going to click on it, and drag it to the very top. Now that's at the top, I want to change the title.

So I'm going to make it the name of what the videos about, so I'm just gonna say impact. Impact Yeah. And then you can always change the font here, just go to font. And that gives you an array of fonts. I like to use impact for this one. Impact an impact.

That's funny. All right, and then you can also increase this sighs I'm gonna make it a little bigger, but not too big. Um, you can also change the color by going to face and just click clicking show. You can manipulate the color here. Let's make it green. Okay.

And then yeah, so I have that title up here. And then I'm going to make a title at the very bottom. And the easiest thing that I found to do when you're creating subtitles is just to pick the title that you want to use throughout the entire video, extend it to the very end like we did before, and then make little cuts along the way where you're speaking, right? So for instance, I'll show you. So I said, Hi, everyone, Alexis Paris here. That's all I want in the very first subtitle.

So I stopped it at that place. I'm going to click on my title at the bottom. So it's highlighted this highlighted means that I selected so I'm going to click there and then I'm I'm going to do command B to split it. Now my title is split. And this part is still highlighted which is good. I'm simply going to drag it down to the very bottom and put Hi everyone, as I say.

Okay, tip. So, before I type in this thing it makes your job easier is when you position the title before you slice it so that you have to keep dragging the title down every time. So I'm going to undo this slice here, here. Okay, it's undone. And I'm going to position this where I want it to be first. I need all of my titles to be down here in the center.

And then I'm going to slice so I don't have to keep dragging it. Hi everyone experice here's what I want. So, select where it needs to stop, slice it with command beam. It's sliced is so selected so now I can type where I need to over here, so you just click it and replace your text so I think I said hi. Everyone likes Paris here. Alright, let's see how that looks.

Yes, this is good. So then my next subtitle would be today I want you to think about so I stopped it there. Again slice can make sure the title selected before you sighs because if it's not, it'll do this where it's slice my clip and said my title Cuz my title wasn't selected, so I'm going to undo that. Select my title, come over here. Now I'm gonna say set. Now I'm going to place the words.

Today I want you to see how that works. Yes. Okay, so you're just going to continue to do that if you need subtitles for your video, you will just continue to do that. Otherwise if it's just a creative video, you can have titles and make them pop in and make Macomb hold on trying to get another piece You can make them pop in on the sides if you want them to, you can make them do 3d things. So just really depends on the specific title that you want. You can change it to this, if you want, if you completely change your mind about the tile that you want to use, you can just take the title and hover it over your existing one, drop it there and then you'll get a drop down, you can say replace, you're gonna replace the whole thing.

So now I have this title, instead of my impact there at the top. So you can get creative with the type of the kind of titles that you want to use and how you want to incorporate them into your video. But that's how you seamlessly cut and add titles into your videos. I'll see you in the next one. Bye
