The shares appreciated over a period of time and there is the need to compute the original number of stocks for each company. The three unknowns are first defined for the companies and a system of linear equations in the three unknowns are presented. A worksheet is created for the equations. Applying the concept of invertibility, further Excel functions are invoked to compute the required number of stocks.
