DESCRIPTION: Perceptions of a situation may lead to chronic anxiety and worry. Everyone has worries and fears, but it becomes too much when someone is overwhelmed with worries, fears, and what-ifs all of the time. The individual starts to think that something will always go wrong, and it is their fault. Constant worrying can cause fatigue, insomnia, restlessness, muscle tension, and stomach issues. It is essential to find ways to curb constant worrying so it does not take a toll on your health. Some techniques that you can try with your client are establishing a worrying time during the day, journaling, and creating a worry list. (Robinson et al., 2021)
Suggest that your client establish a worrying time each day to allow them to get some of their thoughts under control. For this exercise, your client will choose a time of day and worry about their problems. Once the time is up, they should avoid any further worry.
