DESCRIPTION: Balance Assessment

According to the National Institutes of Health, balance starts to decline around forty to fifty years of age. The problem is that nothing is usually done about it until someone falls. Knowing the medical causes for balance problems and what to look out for can tremendously help your client before falling becomes an issue. (Goad, 2020)
That being said, a balanced assessment is an essential piece of the mature adult assessment. If the balance is off, individuals will not be able to perform the Activities of Daily Living and Physical Activities of Daily Living safely, such as showering, dressing, grocery shopping, climbing stairs, and many other things that individuals need to do to take care of themselves. When assessing your client, pay attention to their movements and gait to notice any movements that are not typical.&emsp;You cannot diagnose any medical conditions, but you can refer a client to their primary physician if you notice anything out of the ordinary....
