Welcome to lesson four. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is tackling your homework week, which I know you can do. Okay, so some things we're going to think about as we're tackling the homework week. This time, we're going to think about practice, your list can't work for you as a tool if we don't practice right tools. So bliss itself, and also some tips, and other ways to be capturing information and flexibility write a list, it's living, it's organic. So we're going to really practice being flexible with building a list and shifting it just like what happens in real life.
Alright, so this is capture and conquer part two. And again, we're going to be thinking about long term and short term in terms of tasks in our timelines. we're again going to be choosing and organizing. And another added piece that we're going to do today is we're going to think about tracking and status but keeping it really simple. So let's go back to us. And three, and the list.
So as a refresher, we've got all of our to dues on the left. We've got our numbers are ones or twos or threes and then on our right, we've got Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday or Monday is a one. Tuesdays at two. Wednesday is a three. Okay, so we're going to start here. So we're gonna put our list into real life.
Real Life is messy. Things that always happen as ones, twos and threes, right. So let's look at what actually happened on my Monday. So on Monday, it looks like actually went ahead and booked that flight, so cross that off. And then what else is cross off here? I actually did a Tuesday at Two and I set up lunch with JB because he sent an email.
Okay, fine, that happens, right? Let's look back up at Monday. And we've also see we've got a p in a circle. So this is a system I created so that you can mark tasks that have been acted on aren't fully completed, right? So we always end up with those things on our to do list that aren't fully done. It's a 6040 5050.
Maybe we're waiting on someone else. So this is a system I created to get at status and tracking without making it too complicated, right? Okay, so let's put this in motion. So what happens now it's Monday towards the end of the day, I'm thinking about writing my list for Tuesday. So this is what I would do. I already booked the flight, great crossed off.
We need to move our setup quarterly reviews down to Tuesday. I'm going to keep the P there, right. So I know I didn't do anything about it. It's been acted on but there's something that's holding it up from being fully completed. Alright, and then we're going to keep the fill out our room reservation for Wednesday is going to see the theme, research funding stream in order to post it. So in essence, that is what our lists will look like in real life and again, wanting you to think about you've got to be flexible things are going to move Hopefully this is starting to give you a system and thinking about how you can shift in move just like in real life, how things shift and move off your plate.
Okay, so now I'm going to give you a sneak preview into your project, which is going to be really taking this more long term. So I want you to think through not just the first beginning, first end of the week, I want you to think through the whole week, right? So Monday through Friday, I want you to think about me picking a template or tool or you know what I even recommend, just go ahead and stick with paper for the first time because it's better for you to be a bit consistent and then work in whichever tool is best for you be at the posted or the index card on your phone. And also, it's going to be helpful for the project so that you can share this out with all of us and wants you to test out your strategy, right. So we're going to make that full day list.
You're going to draw the line the center of your page. On the left, you're going to list all the different things that need to get done Monday through Friday. Then I want you to utilize the 123 system again, right? And you're going to realize that you're you might have to be shifting things, right. So I know we only did Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and assign them as ones, twos and threes. Try shifting the system a little bit and see how many ones do you have.
So, you know, in this case, Monday and Tuesday might have ones right. Wednesday has Tuesday, and Thursday has some twos, maybe a couple threes, and Fridays three, I want you to play with it a little bit and figure out what feels right for you. And I want you to show your process. What does it look like with the big long list on the left hand side of all the things you have to do? Show me assigning the ones twos threes, show me how you went and put things onto the days of the week. And really, the key to this is having you really work with your list and make it comfortable for you.
So there you go. Happy listing and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
