In the following lessons we will create a corrector for to the platform game. And I will be honest with you, this is a very hard task, because you have to create a character which is animated, which is quite technical and also artistic but very technical part of what I will show you I will show you in the following lessons, how to create the sprite illustrations for the for our animation. But apart from that we have to create a character which is likable, which we are able to animate so it's expressive. Its movement is easy to understand and to read and it now he is walking this direction now he's jumping now he's attacking now he's ducking. So the different states of his movement is readable. It's also dynamic, it's not static, and it's likeable to people so they can feel hold for deleted corrector and he's falling when he's dying when he's running.

So it's Not an easy task. It could be a course on itself. And I'm not a full animator to teach that for you now, but what I will do as an illustrator, I will show you my character and how I draw it. And I will tell you the stages how I got there because the first if you want to correct her, you get references. So you get references by going to just go go the character type you want, decide for the character, and then go to the Pinterest or dribble or behance and look how other artists are solving this problem of the for example, if you want a little Viking or a little robot, you look around and you see what other people created before and get inspired. And then you make lots of sketches on paper.

I will have a course for sure about sketching later on. But now I want I can just tell you with just get a pencil and a paper and draw your ideas play with the proportion of the characters and play with your character, then throw a lot of them in Inkscape and figure out what do you like retry, which type of character you need, and then create your own character. I did all of these stages, and I came up with a nice little guy for myself. He is like a little boy and he will be like, he will be a night. So a little night, I switch the view. 3d It's a very simple character.

The more simple it is, the easier it will be to animate. Also, if you are working for a mobile screen a lot of times It's good if you are creating simple characters and you are not doing something over complicated because it won't be visible anyways. And now it's also a good time to do this because people are used to retro games again, you know it's back, it's back that you are creating small characters and that you are creating simple animations. It works a lot. So what I'm creating now is just a simple body and the smaller feet. I double click here because I want to have boots.

I duplicated the leg and flipped it. This is just now for the having fun with the corrector thing. As you see I'm drawing in blue. It does Doesn't mean the whole character will be blue. It means that I aim to create the shapes and then create the character I want in the color I wanted. So now I'm just really sketching the corruptor by creating the shapes of it.

Yes, he's very realistic. Let's give him a little sward. disgrace visible. Nice. And you see he has visible legs and visible arms. And that's why he will be good for me because he will jump and it's To be visible, he will run and it will be visible, you know, the legs will move, and it will help me to express the animation.

So the movement in the animation I want, I make the leg the arms lightly attached. Now I can duplicate him. This is the basic corrector I made, it has a proportions of a little boy. And it is very tiny and childish. I don't make face expressions. Maybe I can play with it that it has a hair so I can give him a mouth.

Maybe that's all I can do. So he's happy now or he's, he can be angry. I can play with this mouth and play with different expression. Let's keep him happy now. I can make another version from him when he is looking sideways, I will definitely do that. And then I can animate in how he is in the different states of movement.

But also I have to give him some colors. So if I want to color him like a normal person, then he needs some cool hair, which is purple in this case, which is not a normal person color for sure, but that's it. And I cut this arm here. So I use path and division, which is cutting an object into as many pieces as I need. This is a very good path operation. You remember path operations like difference and you union.

This is the ad This is another one and it's very very useful. Why because now I created the hand. duplicate this again. Flip it give him a skin color, which is like this you can have some okay if some are more and some legs need some trouser parts See, I'm really following the footsteps of Zelda and all the others. So I keep him very simple. And that's made the same thing here.

Us cutting his boots a select division. Now I have to object and he's bought around two and I can see why it is good for me. We'll see it in a second. Now it has boards and applicate these buttons here, know for darker brown, put it in the back and I can give him see here's what I started. I'm here now. And this one I have some a brown for the sword.

Hey, making the handle of this one is just a little circle, I just take these out on one line. So this is one line, middle goes through here you see it's one nine with a circle. And what else I make is I make a crest on his body, which is very simple object to path. And then I make the insert on my keyboard. I give an additional an additional note then I just This can be any color. If it needs a crest, I don't know.

So I have a little purple hair. That's a boy or girl. If it's purple, it's a little good. And this is matching the little platforms I drew before. That's why I created the character like this. I will give him to you.

You can name it and use it in your game for free. And you can modify it if you use it anywhere. Please let me know I would be so excited to see him move around. In the next tutorials, I will show you how to animate this character and how to make an animation states as I said earlier, so jumping, crouching, how is this all doable in Inkscape
