What's up everyone? Ali Khan here. Today we're going to talk about a question that a lot of people that have tried to lose weight or struggled with weight loss have probably asked themselves at some point and that is, should I count calories? Well, for me, the answer is obvious. If you care about your weight loss, yes, you should count your calories. But for a lot of people, it's not that straightforward.

So so let's dig in. First, let's talk about why do people just miss calorie counting in the first place? Well, for me, there are three main reasons. The first reason they don't want to know how far off base they are. So maybe they suspect that they're overeating and counting calories. We'll just confirm that.

Well, a lot of people aren't psychologically prepared for that type of awakening. But then again, you know, if you're going to improve your life in any area, then being honest with yourself is a necessary first step. So there's that. So the second reason why people dismiss it calorie counting is it's just a chore. You know, it's a pain to try to figure out what you're eating every day and then track how many calories are in each of those foods and if most people Just don't want to deal with that. But today, you know, we have the internet and technology and all that good stuff.

And we have online tools and apps that allow you to count your calories very easily. In fact, I've developed a system that I use to count calories and it takes me less than five minutes a day, I use my fitness pal. It's a great app, it's free, and you know, I'll walk through that more. But it's, it's really easy and I'll show you how easy it is later in this in this course. The third reason is you know, they think this won't work for me maybe maybe they know somebody that's tried it. Maybe they've tried it themselves and didn't have a lot of success.

You know, what, they probably weren't doing it right. So just like anything else, you know, you got to do it right. If it's gonna work, you know, you got to be accurate when you're you're tracking and make sure you stick with it for a long enough time to see results. So those are some objections that most people face. But look, here's why you should count calories. If you care about weight loss.

It will tell you two important things first, where you currently stand with your calories and then second, where you need to be in order to achieve your goal. So those that's very important, where you stand now and where you need to be. It creates that awareness and gives you that baseline. And that that target to shoot for instead of, you know, having no idea where you need to be and what you need to do. It gives you a very clear goal. So, most importantly, like I mentioned, it creates this awareness like where, before I started counting calories, for example, I didn't know how many calories were in like a Starbucks frappuccino.

And then once I started, I realized they're like 500 calories. And so now it's not like I never have those anymore, but at least I'm aware of what that's doing to my bottom line and my numbers and so I can I can account for that. And you know that that awareness is very important. So the awareness, what it does is it'll shape new behaviors, like, like I mentioned with the Starbucks thing, maybe I was drinking them four times a week, and now I'm only having them once a week, just because I'm aware of, you know, what that's doing, how many calories they contain and how many calories I need in order to lose weight. So it'll help shape your new your new behaviors, but you know, it takes time and you got to you got to really learn what's a learn the numbers and how they work for you.

So the bottom line is, if you can't measure it, it didn't happen. My boss says this all the time. And I agree with him. You know, if you can't measure something, then what are you doing really like it's like, I mean, we've already talked about how being in a calorie deficit is the one thing you need to focus on for weight loss, so then it just makes sense that calories would be that One thing that you would measure in order to get results, so if you're not tracking, then all you're doing really is is leaving things to chance and you definitely don't want to do that, especially when it comes to something as important as your health and your weight loss. So, so that's that. That's why you should count calories and hope you got something out of this.
