DESCRIPTION: This class includes Chapters 8 and 9 of the Lean Management Playbook which address the recognition of waste and the continuous improvement of flow to eliminate waste in everyday work.  A self-assessment quiz is also included.  The "Amazing Tool" in this class is Waste Elimination.
Chapter 8 explores the concepts of waste and flow and how waste signals can be used by all employees to identify everyday problems and participate in solving them. Toyota's seven wastes of production are simplified and mapped into four basic types that are most helpful in assessing the waste in service processes.

Chapter 9 demonstrates how Lean continuous improvement is carried out with brainstorming, small experiments, and incremental changes. Five different common types of Lean improvements are described.
