DESCRIPTION:
Lesson 2: Developing trust - The cornerstone to effective relationships

Stakeholders relationship

These key relationships I refer to as “stakeholder relationships.” The term stakeholder implies that there will be some benefit directly or indirectly, actually or potentially gained through this relationship. For instance, managers and employees have a mutual stakeholder relationship; so do parents and children, husbands and wives, and family members and friends. An example of an indirect stakeholder relationship would be your place of work and an individual employee.
The challenge in examining any of these relationships is to identify the mutual interdependencies that exist; that is, how does one benefit from the other—the “What's in it for me” and “What's in it for them” that makes this relationship important to both parties. How can we be mutually successful (my fourth Core Value)?
