My life is an open book to many. I was born with poliomyelitis which is why I was not able to experience how to walk normally. I was walking with my tiptoes and I am using crutches everywhere I go. The year 2016 when I lost my job because of wrong and malicious accusations of a colleague and an HR personnel. I was charged with grave misconduct resulted in the termination of my employment from the company.

What happens is that there is a friend of mine who is a fan of data science and statistics. He is a book author and a foreigner. He posted on his Facebook wall that he is looking for Statistician and he is asking for some sort of a very short and coffee break discussion about statistics and algorithms. He is currently writing a book and he wants that discussion to be included in the book he is writing. My office is just nearby his residence and so I replied to his wall post. I said, “I have my free time during break time. We can meet downstairs during lunchtime”. After a week, I was asked by my area manager to go outside the data center and he told me that HR personnel was able to view my comment on my friend’s wall. She took a screenshot of it and he asked me to delete the comment. Since the social network is not allowed in the office, I told him that I will delete it after work and so I did. I even took a screenshot that I deleted my comment and I sent it to his email account. After a few days, I thought everything is fine and all good until one day, I received a memo from the HR director inviting me for a hearing or a discussion about the issue. There are hearings that happened until they decided to release the results of their investigation. I was charged with grave misconduct resulted in the termination of my employment. I cannot accept the decision, but I am voiceless. I went home with pretending to be okay.

During that time, I am earning 6 digits figures of monthly salary. I have so many obligations to pay including the house and lot in Malolos Bulacan. It was worth almost 2 million Peso. It was a bungalow type with a parking area and has two bedrooms with a spacious sala and dining area and backyard. I also bought a Mitsubishi Lancer. I am also rebuilding my parents’ house in the province. I have so many obligations to pay. I have used all my credit cards to finance all of these. I am jobless for more than a year and I was bankrupt. Really bankrupt that I am on the verge of giving up. Very hopeless and I really do not know what to do for me to be able to pay my obligations, my credit cards. I emailed all my credit card issuer and plead them to give me some time to look for a job and refrain from calling me because I really don’t know if the call was from a company or from a Credit card collection agencies. It was a very traumatic experience for me because collection agencies are bragging me almost every minute of the day. They even guard the area where I am staying as if I am a criminal.

I decided to go to Singapore to find a job. I asked my friends and former colleagues for some sort of financial support that I am going to use it going abroad. After two months of stay in Singapore, I went back to the Philippines without any single money in my pocket. One day, I received a call from Singapore and inviting me for an interview, and so I flew to attend the Interview, but I still failed. My house and lot were repossessed by the bank including my car. It was hard for me to commute if there are interview invitations. I am a person with a disability (PWD) the only way for me to travel is to book for a grab or any ride-sharing transportation. It was very costly. So, I decided to stay at home. Trying my luck and just searching the internet for any opportunity at home. Until one day, I came across google Adsense and start reading it. I explored it and little-by-little, I was able to understand the algorithm behind. How to Google Adsense work. They are not asking for money or any other monetary fee, in fact, they are paying people in exchange for the contents that we share over the internet.

Google Adsense is a program run by Google through which website publishers in the Google network of content sites serve text, images, video, or interactive media advertisements that are targeted to the site content and audience. These advertisements are administered, sorted, and maintained by Google. In other words, any individuals, groups, or enterprises that share their contents over the internet by means of any platforms managed by Google are monetized. If you are good in writing and want to share your articles online, you will get paid. If you are good at taking photos and share it over the internet, you will also get paid. Any contents you share over the internet will get paid by Google. In 2015, Google Adsense was able to pay more than 10 Billion US Dollars to advertisers and publishers. New normal is not new to me since I discovered the power of the Internet. I am thankful because I was able to regain my bankruptcy.
