When you read anything new the process your mind goes through as you understand and begin to apply the truths you read can be amazing.  Your brain will attempt to associate your newfound knowledge with something already in your memory.  It can't associate the knowledge with a recent experience it will open a new file.  If you are patient with yourself your mind will cause you to reflect upon and remember a period in your life when you had applied these truths. This act of remembering and reflecting will reinforce what you know to be true and provide a positive impact on your future behavior.
