DESCRIPTION: We'll be working with the lateral pterygoid muscles in this one.
The lateral pterygoid is the main myofascial source of pain and TMJ dysfunction. Popping or clicking can be a result of trigger point-related tension here. Trigger points here can also mimic sinus pain.
The lateral pterygoid is well hidden by the jawbone making it tricky to get to and its main function is to help other muscles open the jaw.
