And now we come to Lesson number nine. In the arts Terminator, writing for I'll second demick course. This time we're going to be talking about the second paragraph in isles Part Two writing task, what to say in this paragraph, and how to say it. So after leaving a blank line, we begin the second paragraph with an indent. I've said this before about the blank line and the indent. Most important to do it so the examiner knows where our paragraphs start and end where our idea clusters begin and end.

Without these the examiner doesn't really know we stop and start your ideas. And the examiner is not going to be concerned about trying to find it. That's going to make the examiner cranky. And therefore not ready to give you a good school. All right, in this paragraph the second one, we make an argument for or in favor of the proposition in the question and first sentence in this paragraph is the topic sentence of the paragraph and virtually sums up what we're about what we will say. So let's continue with the question we started with.

We must try to use new words and expressions that we have not used before, if possible, sometimes this is not possible. So let us begin. Let's make one Okay, remember this is paragraph number two, our first paragraph restate the question. In our own words, and gave an idea of our opinion on this matter. So here we go. Going on to the second paragraph, and he is my ideas your ideas might be completely different of course, punishment for crimes committed by fully grown members of society can often be quite harsh when applied to misdemeanors perpetrated by minors.

However, behavioral psychologists generally agree that unless the punishment is severe enough to make the criminal want to alter his or her behavior, the possibility of reoffending will always be present. So here we see, we have an event. Then I'll have used for my topic sentence for the second part, the second second paragraph, punishment for crimes committed by fully grown members of society can often be quite harsh when applied to misdemeanors perpetrated by minors. Okay, there's some pretty good vocabulary in there. So it might be time to start thinking about putting some more vocabulary into your vocabulary notebook. When you see I have also supported my topic sentence with an argument here.

In the second sentence, of course, not all paragraphs will have two sentences, some might have more sub might be only one sentence. However, in each case, we need to try to support what we're saying. You note here that we introduce a reference to some sort of an authority to substantiate our argument I said I referred to behavioral psychologists. Okay, we do not need to quote exact references. No do the references need to be factual? Something could be as vague as my friends think.

Whomever the IRS examiner is not in a position where he or she is going to question the authority that you provide. He knows that it's probably not genuine, but he's assessing your English, not your ability to remember complex references. So, in the first sentence, the topic sentence states what I wish to say and the second sentence supports what I disciple expanding on the first sentence and giving some authority to it. So let's step back a little, and do some review about part two of the writing exam. Here's the question. Here's a question that you should think about.

These questions I'm giving you here have all been used in IRS exams by the way. Some people believe that to protect local culture tourism should be banned in some areas, whereas others think that change is inevitable and banning tourism will have no benefits. Discuss both sides and give your opinion. Okay, what do we have to do here? You're going to be able to after my next little talk, pause the video and I want you to go ahead and write your first Paragraph two answering this question posed above Don't forget in debt and think, what is it I must talk about? And to prove to the examiner know what you're talking about, restate the question in your own words and give your opinion.

Once you've done back done for that, come back and restart the video. So let's see, here's our question we've you've done your first paragraph, your introductory paragraph where you restate the question and given some opinion on it. So let's see. Now that you've done that, check out your first paragraph. Make sure it restated the question. You probably had to do a little bit of research to find a few alternative words.

That's great. That's adding to your vocabulary book. And then pause the video again very shortly and write your second paragraph. In this paragraph we have to show that we agree with the proposition or that we at least concede that the proposition could be correct. Don't forget a topic sentence and a supporting sentence. Using authority to support what you say.

The authority like I said before can be quite vague. People in my town thing local authorities suggest the ILC examiner is not going to go and check your references No way, and he knows they probably not real practice makes perfect. So go ahead. You now should have two paragraphs towards this essay. Let's have a look at another, some other genuine isles questions and you're going to be doing a bit of pausing of, of this video to do this. That's okay because practice makes perfect.

Don't forget blank lines between paragraphs in dense. Some people think that when a person travels into a different culture, they should adapt the local practices and customs To what extent do you agree? So forget indent first paragraph restate the question give an opinion. restate the question using different words if you can. second paragraph agree with the proposition Oh, so this one children can learn effectively by watching television. Therefore they should be encouraged to watch television regularly at home and at school.

To what extent do you agree or disagree? senate we've got a few essays on the go haven't wait for this one. Don't forget the same procedure. indent first paragraph, restate the question in your own words and give an opinion blank line Paragraph to indent in general, show why this proposition that children can learn effectively by watching television could be true, given authority. That's all for this lesson. Thank you very much.

Next lesson, we will move on. We're doing
