So next up, I'm going to talk about the art of observation and awareness. After all, we have to look at the separation from the self in order to do that, to be in a place of a neutral perspective, to have that independent expert observer part of us. That is, after all, making us aware that we are the world's leading authority on ourselves, and it's how do we use that wisdom, knowledge and experience? How do we get to that place of what is now popularly called Mindfulness? It provides a platform for our thoughts, our actions, our beliefs, our behaviors, allows us to figure out are they appropriate? Are they working for us?
Now we can also figure out are they conscious? Is it in our conscious awareness? Is it constantly updating us or rebooting us? Is it based on the now the subconscious however, it is more powerful, it's a more powerful processor than the conscious mind. So self Awareness is vital for authenticity. It provides purpose, it provides direction, and you will note the ambivalences that do come up for us as well.
Somewhere on my board. Someone once said to me, alcohol gave me wings to fly, but then it took away the sky. And someone also told me that booze hurts those the most who love it the most. So again, these contradictions that we have that go on in our lives, it's sad but they are a create the ambivalence is the paradoxes. For a lot of people, there are slaves to addictions, for instance, or use it as a diversion uses as an adaptation of mood alteration. It's also used for pain is also used for tranquilizing to provide some sort of serenity but in the end, it's guilt and shame that often feed it and fear pain, fear of more pain, these are The three big stressors that we live with.
So we've got the pain of the paradox and separation, which can be healed by compassion, compassion, and today's choices, but we have to become aware of those choices. So mindfulness has an impact, and allows us to give that impact to our choices, our actions, it allows us to cooperate rather than compete with, we have adversaries in our head. Remember, we talked about that in the very big one, we need an advocate inside their head with fresh evidence to clean and clear so we're in a place of freedom. We have to learn to surf the waves of life's uncertainties, so to speak. And that provides structure which is the antidote in fact to chaos. And that subconscious mind is like a tape player.
It goes around around in a loop on some negative things. A lot of people have obsessive compulsive disorder that can include having these loops. In the mind because it's stuck on play. And we need it to record. Record the new things. So please be aware of the need for observation, awareness.
Mindfulness, listen within. Bring the mind, the body, the spirit, up to date.
