What is Fasting?
Simply put, fasting is eating all food in a particular time window. For example, Nora and I like to eat all of our daily calories from 1 pm to 8 pm every day. From 8 pm at night to 1 pm the following day, we simply don't eat and only drink water, tea, coffee, and occasionally bone broth if we're feeling the need. 
Fasting Isn't Starving:
When fasting is first mentioned to people their usual response is "why are you starving yourself?!" Given the views on eating habits, food choices, and body image, this is a very good question. 
Let's first define "starving." Starving is when you are intentionally or unintentionally eating a number of calories below your basal metabolic rate (BMR). Your BMR is the number of calories it takes to fuel your body every day, meaning the number of calories it takes to run your brain cells, organ cells, breathe, pump the heart, and so on.
