The Canadian Conservation Institute has developed a &laquo;Plan for the preservation of the Collections&raquo; (Framework is Preservation of Museum collections), where several useful measures are described. Factors of deterioration are divided into two groups:

The universal factors: those that affect all locations and exist on the whole planet, and
The specific factors: those that directly affect the institutions that protect the cultural heritage.
