When developing this Learning Module, it was hard to prioritize which was the most important topic to cover first... the emotions of job loss or the action items required within the first 48 hours of losing a job. Both are so important. In the last section, we focused on overcoming the initial shock (and dealing with the emotions) of losing a job. Hopefully, that section helped you feel a bit more at peace with what has happened. It is important to now focus on the next task at hand, which is getting the foundation in place for a successful job search. In this second section, we will discuss several key action items to do as quickly as possible after being informed of your job loss. However, before discussing action items to do, as we mentioned earlier, there is one task you absolutely should not do within the first 48 hours of losing your job.
