It was the third time this week that Geoff had to decline going out for happy hour with the team. “Come on, Geoff, it’ll be fun!” said one of his coworkers. “I don’t get what the problem is, man, I mean, drinking isn’t that big a deal,” added another. Geoff felt a slight tinge of guilt wash over him. It happened every week to some degree. Geoff wondered to himself if maybe his coworkers were right; after all, he had been sober now for six months. Surely, he could handle a drink now with his coworkers, and it might even benefit his career if his boss was going along.
