The first thing we learned is that in our natural brain state we human beings are intrinsically motivated. This applies as much to our employees as it does to us as leaders. Now, what this means in practical terms is that basic survival mechanisms ensure that human beings are naturally enthusiastic, curious, and excel at working together to problem-solve for the good of their host group. In fact, we have survived as a species precisely because we have evolved to become a highly socialized, collaborative problem-solving mammal. As such every one of your employees has these fantastic qualities available for the benefit of the organiZation. However, these wonderful resources are only really available in our natural brain state.
The bad news is that when we get stressed we tend to lose these great attributes in varying degrees of intensity and this is very destructive for high-performance work culture.
