Okay, so I'm now going to show you how to order your certificates at the general register Office website. And I've come here to the homepage. So if you go to de haro.gov.uk, you should end up on this page. And you can see very clearly right at the top here is where you can click to order certificates online. So we will click on that. Now in order to carry out your order, you will need to register first so you will need to go up here to register stroke login.

Now obviously, I have already registered so I just need to log in But if you haven't already registered, you will need to register here. Probably just register as an individual. Okay, so let me just log in there. Now once you're all nicely registered and logged in, we will need to go to place an order, you can actually we just say, you can actually do a search here rather than on ancestry as we've just done. I've never actually used a gr o to do the searches. So you might want that something you might want to try out, see if it's any better than ancestry.

I tend to use ancestry because just a habit and that's what I'm used to. But if you want to try that one, please go ahead and try it. But we already have the index references. So we're just going to click on place an order. So you will come to this page. And if you come, just scroll down here, what I'm going to do is I'm going to go through the motions of ordering my maternal grandparents marriage certificate.

Now, I actually already have that certificate so I'm not actually going to go you know, go right to the end and pay. But I will just take you up to the part where you have to pay just to show you what the process is like. So obviously down here you have the option of birth. Adoption, probably don't need to worry about that. Marriage and or death. These are probably ones you're going to be using both for birth marriage or death.

Further down, you've got a A C's as well, you probably don't need to worry too much about. So we're going to click on marriage. Again, it's go right down here is the GR index reference note, we've already carried out the index searches. So we do know that so we click on Yes. So obviously, if you didn't know, then you'd have to go and do the research to find that out. Then we need to put in the year in which the event was registered, so that was 1923.

And then we click on Submit. And then we come to the page where we need to put in all the details from the reference you found on the indexes. So first of all, we need to put in the details of the two parties. So surname for my grandfather was manly. He was a name of my grandmother. Now, something very important you should be aware of here.

If there is a spelling variation, if, when you've been searching the indexes, the name that has come up has been different to what you think it should be, or it's spelt wrong or whatever you actually need to go with. However, it is spelt in the indexes because that is what they will use to search the documents. If you put it in how you think it should be spelled, they're probably not going to find it. So you need to follow the index reference. Exactly. Even though it might seem to you to be wrong.

Okay. So the quarter was July to September, district names Prestwich volume numbers eight D, page number 755. Now then we come down here to service options. The prices have gone up recently a standard certificate is now 11 pounds. Priority you probably don't need to worry about that that's if you wanted something very quickly. Obviously if you can, you know you're happy to pay that amount for it then and you want it quickly then that is fine.

So but I would stick to standard because otherwise it can look out quite expensive and that gives you all the details of delivery. And yet as come right down here, there is another service. It's not coming up on this one, but I think it's more for previous years. And it's quite a good service. If you don't want to spend too much they have now offered a service where you can order a PDF copy of the certificate via email, which is both cheaper and quicker. At the time of doing this video, that is now seven pounds, it used to be six pounds, it has just gone up to seven pounds.

And obviously that's quite a bit cheaper than the 11 pounds for the certificate by post. Now obviously, PDF or email copy is only really for junior logical purpose and it wouldn't do for identification purposes, but that is fine for us. So if it comes up that you can order the PDF by email, then I would definitely go for that. But in this case, we have to order it by post. So we come down here to the bottom of this screen, and we just want one I can put into if you want more, you know, if you're sending it to somebody else or something. Now reference, it's up to you.

What you want to do here, you don't need to put in a reference that's up to you for me because I work with lots of different clients. I often put in a client name there for my own purposes, and organization. So let's click on Submit. And we'll just wait for the process. Here we are now. The next thing will should be your Delivery drive.

Now if you've registered, I think this should come up anyway. But if not, you need to fill that in and if your delivery address is different your registration address also you'll need to fill this in again. So it should have all your details, your email address, and your telephone numbers, etc. So just check all that is correct, and then click on Submit. So here we come to basically your basket summary and what you've got in there. So you want to check in this.

This will give you the dates of estimated dispatch and the delivery method and how much you're paying. You can check all the details here as well. Now if you wanted to add more certificates, if you've done a bit more research and you've got a few more certificates you want to order you can go to continue shopping and that would just add them to your basket. But we're just happy with this now, so we go to checkout. So again, again to the details of what's in your basket, you might just want to double check that a second time as you cannot go back from this point. So once you have clicked on confirm, you can't cancel that.

So I'm just going to leave it there. Obviously, if I clicked on confirm, you would then be taken to the payment page where you put in your payment details and order your certificate. Now, as I said, if you ordered a PDF copy by email that's going to be a lot quicker, usually in my experience about three to four days. If you order a post or copy within the UK, it's usually up to a week off. See if you're outside. The UK it's going to be a bit more expensive and it's going to take a bit longer.

So let me just go back and delete that because I don't want to accidentally order it down because I already have it. Okay. So that's ordering a certificate. So please go ahead and if you have found your definite answers in the civil registration indexes, and then please go ahead and order your certificates now.
