So we're now going to search for that marriage, I'm going to pretend that I don't already know it. And so we are looking for john W. bot. And again, because we're hoping that parish register might come up, I'm going to start from this page and not go just specifically to the single registration indexes. Hopefully, you know, we can save ourselves a bit of money. Now, as we've just seen, we know that the first child was born in 1876. So maybe we will do a search from hating, let's say, in this case, 1873 and then to a five year search.

Now, if you remember, we weren't sure whether the marriage might be in Birmingham. Or Yorkshire, maybe even somewhere else we're going to leave that blank for now. Now because we are searching for parish registers as well, I'm going to put in the name of the spouse as I might have got it from the census, but I might not know the surname at this point, I'm going to put that in just to give us some extra criteria. We check that we just got UK and Ireland there, and we click on Search. Now as you can see, there's quite a lot of john bops that come up. It's it's much more common name than you might think.

You might find that quite a lot when you're doing searches that names are far more common than you think they are. Anyway, let's just have a look at and we can hover over a few of these. And you can see from the visual thing here, this is an actual parish register, but it's not the right one. Come down here, what you will have the names of all the people on that particular page, and there's Maryam there, but not a Mary Jane. So we want to come down a bit. And we might have looked at this one in Warrick show, you know, thinking of Birmingham, but again, you can see that's not the right one.

So let's have a look at this one. And you can see here, down here, we've got Mary Jane stampers. We know her name was Mary Jane. So I would have a look at that one. Now, this is a parish register entry. So let's have a look.

And we can look at that immediately. On ancestry and when it comes up, we can have a look at the details and see if they tie up with what we already know. So here we are. And you see here, the name of the spouse is john bought bachelor. He's a joiner, and we can tie that up with the occupation and given in the census, and his residence at the time of marriage was in Cheatham in Manchester. So we know that therefore this is going to be the right because we know that he had links with Manchester and Mary Jane stamper was from Yorkshire and from Manitoba.

So all this makes sense. So we would then be able to download this from ancestry and add it to our records. Let's just go back to the results here. And I just want to see if I can find the actual the civil registration So I'm just going to narrow down to we can narrow it down within the search. So we can go over here and click on civil registration. So we want to find.

So I think it's probably this 118 75. There we go. Now if you look at the record here, again with their civil registration, if you didn't find the parish register, and you needed to order the marriage certificate, if you go to the record, you've again, you've got all the reference details that you need here, but you can also cross reference with the names on the registration page. So here you can see clearly that Mary Jane stamp is on this page. And so we would be pretty sure that this was the right Marriage if we weren't absolutely sure and you can also check there are places where you can check whether Bradford included that perished that we have just seen.
