So the fundamentals of mixing so we already touched base and covered briefly on counting beats. So now we're going to cover the matching in beat sinking. These are two extremely important concepts, because we're going to use them throughout the DJ course and actually throughout your DJ career, so beat matching and beat sinking. So what they are. So beat matching is basically when we're mixing two songs, they need to be the same tempo at the same speed. So in my arms, we'll see here is 123 beats per minute and losing it as 125.
So what that means, if we hit view here, and select two players and record box, this is actually free way to mix by the way. So if you don't have DJ gear, DJ equipment, you can follow along and mix a mix for free. So we'll just throw in losing it into the second deck so to speak. And you can see immediately on the green on the grid that they're not in sync or not matched. So if we were to press play They would eventually fade off and be off beat. So if I play in my arms using the spacebar, and then I press play on losing it.
Now they're they synced because the computer since then, if I put it back to 125 so if I press play on in my arms, 123 beats per minute, and losing 125 beats per minute. You'll see that they eventually go off beat because they're not the same speed. So basically, what we need is the kick, clap, kick, clap, quick kick, snare to be on grid on tempo on time and hitting together and playing together. So what we need to do is with the beats been a button that will make losing it 123 which is this Seems in my arms, and that means our beats are matched. So now if we just play, press play anywhere, terrible, offbeat mix that gives me major anxiety. But what we also have to do is beat sync.
So now we have the beats matched, I mean beats sinking, under the two fundamentals be matching and beat sinking. So what that is, is when we're counting the beats, we have to make sure we press play on the 32 Count 1-232-341-2345 678 sounds a bit off. It's think alignment in the grid properly. I'll show you on the turntables how to do that. Manually adjusting the speed and now I've perfectly aligned and just smooth mix Just to analyze a bit of these songs because we're going to mix them in record box, have an intro. The red and big bars is when the kick and bass come in, we have our build up.
Our first drop comes at the two minute mark, another longer break and build up. And then we have our outro that eventually comes after six minutes and losing it, same thing. 15 seconds we get our first kick, build up first drop out one minute. And then we have our outro where we lose all the musical elements at the six minute mark. So once we created once you created your playlist once we've created our playlist, we'll export this to USB and I'll see you on the decks.
