The fourth P is pearls of wisdom. This means what is the rest of your content going to consist of. And the reason I call it pearls of wisdom is that it needs to be more than just the bleeding obvious. A lot of people are guilty when they get up to speak, and saying things that are just too obvious to the audience. So they're not learning anything new. You have to work harder than that on your content.
And very challenging when I work with senior people and they bring me a speech that they're going to do. I often say to them, that's not going to be good enough. So work hard to come up with points that are genuinely new to the audience. And you'll know if they like them because they will write them down. So these pearls of wisdom needs to be presented to them in a certain way. And my suggestion, as a quick tip, is to think of it as point story action PFA.
I find it easy to remember because I'm a fellow of the professional speaking Association. PSA. So for me, it's very easy to remember, points story action. If you look back at the video I've just done, which was the third p, you'll see that I've used this structure, I make a point. And then I tell a story to illustrate it. And then I come back round to saying, here's what you should do, here's your action.
That is a great way to reveal things to people. That makes it more engaging, because you have facts and story. And it also reminds them that there's something for them to do in there. They can't just consume it passively. So points story action for all of your pearls of wisdom. And that's going to make for a really good talk.
