DESCRIPTION: Car rental waivers must be carefully explained to clients to ensure there is no comeback to the TMC or travel manager. Waivers are not insurance. Waivers only entitle the renter to a portion of the liability responsibility being waivered, so it is not required that the consultant or travel manager must be an accredited financial advisor.
Several different types of waivers are available to renters and the consultant must advise them of when doing the booking.
Types of waivers include, but are not limited to, the following:

Standard cover for theft/loss or damage.
Super cover for theft/loss or damage.
Tires and windscreen/glass cover.
Minor damage (scratches).
Hail damage.
Personal effects cover (International rentals).

Incorrect information provided to the renter could result in liability being placed on the TMC.
