DESCRIPTION: The issue of traveller tracking is a debatable, emotional one, where travellers have different viewpoints in this regard. Some travellers are quite happy for their companies to track them via mobile phones whilst on their trips, however, others find it a complete invasion of their privacy. Such a requirement cannot be made mandatory and is, therefore, dependant on traveller acceptance or none.
Should travellers not be willing to allow the above it must be determined whether they are willing to allow contact by the risk manager on their mobile phones in the event of a natural or man-made emergency that has taken place where the traveller is currently located. It is emphasised that the need for this is purely to determine the safety and wellbeing of the traveller. It is not to be abused or exploited, otherwise, the traveller will have recourse to take legal action against the risk manager or the organisation.
Several travel management companies do provide traveller tracking software...
