So I bought I bought Laura Wilson's book, the alkaline five diet because I wanted to. I wanted to encourage her to just come into our church. I thought, well, we'll have a look at this as exciting. And she was saying, well, the health benefits. What struck me strangely was that I thought Laura was a student. I thought she was about 2425.
When I spoke to her, find out her age, she was way older than I thought. So I was really amazed at how she looked so fantastic. My daughter really wanted to try out the diet before high school prom, so I thought well, we'll give it a go. It looks it looks a bit cheeky, but I thought all I did and what was tricky about it and food names that I've never heard of before. So I've never heard of wheatgrass or buckwheat or buckwheat juice, buckwheat and just fruits and vegetables that I've never heard I was bit embarrassed. So When I've tried day one, I have no, no kind of trust that I would feel any different.
But on the second day, I think it was having had the Vita. What's it called the vitality green smoothie. And I did a Bible study with a with a thingy, got really, really thinking. And whereas before my energy levels would really drop and I'd be hunting around for making the children's sweets or biscuits or cheese. I didn't have that hunger at four o'clock or five o'clock, and I made the great hearty wholemeal rice dish. And I thought this looks a bit odd.
Never heard of a golf syrup. But the spices in it was delicious. It was really good. And my energy levels were sustained immediately. So for the second day, taking out caffeine was quite tough. So I had four days of a headache at the back and I thought, No, I don't I can cope with this and I thought what am I gonna have a coffee for just a second?
But headaches, so I stuck with it and On the fifth day, my headaches were gone. My craving for coffee had gone. reading about milk was another If not, I'd always drink full fat milk or my cereal. And I haven't touched it since I thought that was pus and milk made me feel really quite grim. So that changed me around and craving fruit and vegetables. I thought that would never happen.
But sure enough, it did. Eating days and bananas with fantastic as opposed to eating chocolate, or candy the children would have in the house that was fabulous. waited a bit, went away for the weekend, went out and had steak and chips, thinking it was a treat, and felt rotten. Absolutely rotten felt like the steak is stuck in my body. For a few days after that. I've noticed benefits in my skin.
I've noticed a difference in my bowels. I've noticed Like weight loss, but I've just had a little bit of fat building up but I think that's gone but I wasn't too up for the wanting the weight loss. But what I found brilliant about it was that you could keep eating and eating and eating and just enjoying all these fresh fruits that was fabulous and you weren't gaining weight from it. Looking at the difference, so I'm going on looking at the difference between a plate full of healthy, colorful, vibrant fruits compared with ganache and chips or steak and chips. The difference in the color was incredible. And I'm far more drawn to the colorful foods.
I haven't continued strictly on the alkaline five diet is five children's for feed. It's been slightly tricky bringing in all the all those ingredients every day, but actually we've made massive, massive changes in the family feeding now. I've changed from white wheat to whole grain whole grain products. I haven't been having any meat. All the children have been having fresh fruit smoothie. Every morning, I'm loving it.
I've been having my green vitality smoothie for lunch because I rather like that. And in the evening, I think I've pretty much gone vegan. Now, my husband's a big steak eater, so I have to give him steak on the side. But even he is liking brown rice salads and all that wonderful exotic side funding to make up now. So I highly recommend it. I can't believe the unexpected changes hands in my energy levels, my outlook of thinking about how and what food was doing to me before I'm not feeling starchy or heavy.
I'm not feeling drained. I haven't taken paracetamol, ibuprofen for a month. I've had caffeine for a month. So the changes are phenomenal. So go for it.
