In this video, I'm going to talk about ways to get your family on board with the alkaline diet. So, the best way to approach this is to educate them not in a kind of preachy lecturing way, but just in a gentle kind of way that's going to make them think that there could be something to this diet and to inspire them to embrace it. So the best thing you can do to start with is just to get them to watch some documentaries together. So things like Forks Over Knives, food, junk food matters, go and watch the documentary video that I've created for you. For seven really good documentaries, most of which were some of them you can find freely on YouTube, they're not copyrighted. So and the others you can rent for a matter of two pounds online or by.

So yeah, that's a really good place to start. Give them a brief outline of the Benefits. You know, people sometimes think that it's wacky. They think vegans or people on a healthy or plant based diet, you're kind of far out and you're hippyish and just let them know that the reason why we're doing is because there's some amazing benefits, you know, to have really good energy and vitality and to feel better and to get lean and to be able to eat an abundance of food without putting on weight is Yeah, there's so many benefits why wouldn't people want to embrace this so once they know the benefits, then it's more likely to to engage them, reassure them that they can meet all of their nutritional needs by eating a plant based and alkaline diets and let them know that actually nutrition is much better on this diet because a lot of people actually have a genuine fear they still believe that meat and dairy is absolutely necessary for healthy diet and lifestyle, which is just not true.

It's a myth. So So yeah, reassure them that you can meats and they will meet all of their needs eating this way. Take them shopping. So especially if you've got kids, take them shopping go into the fruit and veggie or go into the kind of grains are let them pick out things for themselves because when they take ownership of things that they've chosen, then they will want to eat them. You know, it works on the basis of concurrency. If your child picks out life you say right, which you know which grains do we want?

Do we want buckwheat or millet or Boga wheat you choose? Choose a bag and they choose one. Then when you get at home, what are they going to do? They they're going to want to eat it on there, they're going to want you to cook it and eat it. So yeah, it's a really good way to engage them. Maybe you, you know, wouldn't work so well with your husband or but it might do you never know.

You know, psychology works on most human behaviors. So the next thing is to engage them, which means don't judge them. It's easy to it's understandable. We've all been there before. is when you make a kind of stand for a higher, a higher standard in your life, especially when it comes to food and eating, which is such a important integral. And for many people and emotional parts of your day in life, you know, eating is associated with comfort with enjoyment, as well as just pure food or fuel.

Then when you make a stand, and if you're the only one in your family, it's easy for you to feel isolated and alone, especially if they kind of if they tease your bites, or if they judge you, it's easy for you to respond in judgment. But just like Jesus said in the Bible, you know, turn the other cheek when people do things to you that you don't like. You have to take the higher the higher road here. Don't judge them and don't bite back. If they make little snotty or snide comments or little digs here and there, which they will do. It's just Yeah, I don't know what it is human nature.

When you leave a kind of talked about this in thriving on this lifestyle in a previous video, you will find a certain line of resistance to start with people think that it's strange and I want to give their opinions to you. And often those opinions won't be the most positive, but don't react in judgment or in defensiveness. Just say, you know, if you want to find out more, I'm happy to talk to you about this. Why not try it and just engage them, bring them on board, encourage them, offer to cook for them. Just even if you have to bite your tongue, maintain a kind of chipper attitude towards it and ask them just say to them, you know, can you not judge me? This is something that's important to me just state to them that it's important to you.

It's a gift. Give again, going back to some of the benefits and if you get them to watch a documentary that will really help fight your way. corner, which should prevent them from judging you. But I can pretty much guarantee you will have to put up with jokes from time to time everyone does I do all the time? Yes it was then it gets annoying, but you just have to kind of put up with it. Get on with it.

Make healthy foods treat foods. Now, this is so simple. I do this all the time with my nieces and nephews. It's easy to think that all kids especially young kids, or they'll only eat sweets and they'll only chocolates and they'll only eat crisps. No my kids will eat healthy foods. Well, I very successfully swapped the concept in my nieces and nephews minds of sweet treat foods from you know, chemical, bovine gelatine Laden.

Kind of Yeah, refined packed sweets to as being a treat food to cranberries and dried pineapple and dried apricot some prunes and dates. And I've just kind of it's all about positioning. I've just made them feel that this to treat food and I've taken them to a shop and said, right you can pick out your own little pack of foods, which do you want these little red cranberries and they love it, you know and so when I see them I say oh, I've got a pack of cranberries for you and it's like oh wow, Auntie Laura's got some cranberries and it's turned into a treat food so if your children are young enough, then then use this you know, don't think that oh no kids were only bad junk foods because kids are conditioned by their environment. So you just need to switch it up. You know if all they know is that fruits a treat foods instead of chocolate and ice cream and crisps, then they would never know any different and they would eat those foods thinking it was treat foods and at the end of the day, they are treat foods fruits, cranberries, sweet, juicy fruits are lovely.

They're the best foods out there. So So use that plus one. If true to your advantage, ask your family members to try a plant based meal here and there. So no, no long term commitment. You know, you'd never want to say you need to go vegan for the rest of your life. Because it's not going to work.

Anyone saying that? I don't say that even to myself. I've been vegan for years and years. But I still say to myself, if I ever want to eat a steak, then I will allow myself I'm not that hung up on it. I'm not that I don't meat and or an animal welfare and health is not my idol. So I've got things in perspective.

So I wouldn't say that. I would never say I'm never going to eat meat again, because I don't know, maybe I will. Who knows. So I just take one meal at a time one day at a time and for that so far, for the last however many years, I've eaten vegan all the time. So but just so that's the key to it. It's just taking one step at a time and getting your family to take One little step here and there and see if they enjoy it.

Make vegan versions of their favorite foods. I, I always say this to my friends, there's not one food type or meal type that I used to enjoy when I was a meat and dairy so that I haven't been able to replace with an equally delicious vegan version of it. And it is vegan, it's usually healthy and alkaline as well. So, yeah, find whatever their favorite foods are, whoever you're trying to engage in this, then make vegan versions of their food and show them that it can be really really tasty to eat this way.
