An Introduction to the course - in this first video (2:31) I let you know what you can expect to see and learn in this course. I want to introduce you to, or more probably, refresh your memory of Bloom’s Taxonomy of the Cognitive Domain and show you how to use this for planning from learning outcome to assessment, what I would call the ABC of classroom planning!

Welcome, and welcome to the course ABC, a blooms course on planning. My name is Dr. Karen ornaments, and I'm the principal consultant here at cars consultancy and training. This course is run by the training arm of our organization Kairos training. And yes, I had a bit of fun with the title, but my intention is to introduce you to or perhaps to refresh your memory on Bloom's taxonomy of the cognitive domain and show you how to use this for planning from learning outcome right through to assessment, what I would call the ABC of classroom planning. The photo you see here on your screen is in fact an early one of bloom. So let's begin.

In this course, I'm going to tell you a little bit about bloom and the purpose of the taxonomy to give you some background and help you to understand how You might use it to the best effect. Then I cover the cognitive domain in some detail. Finally, I'm going to give you a brief introduction to how to use it for planning your classroom lessons from the curriculum right through to assessment. Please make sure that you have downloaded the workbook that goes with this course. This will allow you to take some basic notes focused on Knowledge Building and comprehension. And they'll give you the opportunity to apply evaluate and finally have a go at synthesizing this within your own classroom planning.

Now of course is fully self directed. There are many opportunities though for you For you to reflect, as well as to apply your learning to your classroom practice through completing the workbook. If you wish to know more about the other two domains, which I will mention later on, and how to use them for planning and building an inclusive classroom. Then my other course classroom planning for inclusion is also available. I have a bonus for you, which I will let you know about at the end of this course. So, let's continue and look at Bloom's Taxonomy and why he developed it.
