Welcome back to another video. This time, I want to talk about how to use SlideShare to promote your content marketing article. So in case you don't know SlideShare is a website that is now owned by LinkedIn, and it's got presentations, infographics, documents, and a lot more. Their motto is discover, share present, you might know it as that place where you've seen that great presentation. And that's pretty much true people usually know it like that, by the end of this video, you'll know how to number one, get traffic from your SlideShare presentation. Number two, how to get massive traffic from your SlideShare presentation by getting it featured on the homepage on the front page of the website.
So just taking a look at the top slide shares right now, this 140 3000 views this one's 76,000 views This one massive 103,000 views. Before we talk about how to rank how to get on the front page, let's just take a look at a sample. slideshare. And this is a an interesting example. This is a presentation that got 1.3 million views. And it's gotten there using a few, let's call them hacks.
And one of the elements would be that this presentation has a great design. So let's just have a quick look at the presentation. These, this is the presentation from the NSA. It was a pretty big deal. The NSA was trying to spy on pretty much everyone and then this person did not talk about the problem. did not try to offer solutions.
It just made their slides a lot better in terms of design in terms of understanding the content that is there, making that content much easier to lead. So, the term that we use for this sort of situation is newsjacking. That means you find something that people are talking about a newsworthy topic, and then you look at it from a different angle. Most of the meet most of the media was talking about the NSA spying and what else is wrong with the NSA, while this person went in a different direction, did not try to find a solution. It just tried to design great slides. And as a fair, fair situation, good point.
Since people are looking for this topic, they will find your presentation. If you've linked to your website. If you've linked to your article. It will get you traffic Let's have a look at how you can create a presentation. There are tools that you can use. And the great part is they're free.
Most of them are free. So there's the Microsoft PowerPoint. And pretty much nowadays, any new computer comes installed with Windows and the Microsoft Office, which has PowerPoint. There are templates built in. And there are free templates online. There is Canva.
There is a great website and it has hundreds if not thousands, of templates that you can use edit online, or you can download them. There is keynote if you're on a Mac. There is Google Slides, which is online so you can use it from pretty much any operating system. Again, there are templates and there are free templates available outside of that. And there's also Haiku Deck, which is a presentation application that lives pretty much in the cloud. And there is a free version with that as well.
Now, one thing you should remember with SlideShare presentations and presentations in general, you cannot rely on just the one. So if you have a new article, let's say about the benefits of sleep, then you shouldn't just create a presentation called that you should be thinking in terms of a CEO. So just like we've talked about the YouTube video, it's a similar situation with a SlideShare presentation. So don't just think of the SlideShare as a singular digital entity. Think of it as a connected backlink source for your website or your articles. So thinking in terms of SEO, you should have a basic keyword a primary keyword, make sure that that keyword is in the title, in the URL and in the transcript in the description of that slideshare.
Have your presentation be very clean. Have a link to your content marketing article on SlideShare. You can't have an article after I believe the you can only have it after the fourth or fifth slide. You cannot have it on the cover. So you should take that in mind. You can also use different types of graphics like arrows pointing to a link.
Since things are aren't usually as seen as in a website. And going back to SEO tactics, you should create more than one presentation for a content marketing article. Try to tackle the subject that you are talking about from multiple sides. So if you have an article on the benefits of sleep, talk about bellows. Talk about when you should be going to sleep, talk about meditation, talk about things that you should be doing before you go to sleep. Talk about the amount of sleep, talk about how sleep was perceived.
Talk about the drugs that you can take the legal drugs that you can take to follow Sleep faster and things of that nature. And now going back to what we've talked about in the beginning, how you can get traffic from a SlideShare presentation. It all has to do with views. And it's pretty much the same with a YouTube video, a slideshow presentation can be ranked in Google. And if you want to get a lot of traffic, your SlideShare presentation should be on the SlideShare homepage. So just on the front page of the website, how do you get there, there isn't an algorithm, at least they're not acknowledging that there is an algorithm, people who work at SlideShare curate the content.
It does help that it would have a lot of views in the first few hours or days that you have it on your website. So make sure you share it on every social media you have try every single method that you know to get traffic to it mentioned SlideShare on Twitter, tell them that you've got a presentation you love, maybe to be featured on the homepage somewhere and then don't forget to have your link somewhere in the president. If helps if it's more than once, it helps if you emphasize it with colors and arrows and links.
