Step two, adjust your chair and or keyboard tray. Following the ergonomic positioning guide sit with your body in a neutral position, shoulders relaxed. When the shoulders are relaxed, the elbows will not be touching the armrests. Hold your elbows close to your body with your forearms parallel and at a 90 to 100 degree angle. your thighs will also be parallel with your feet firmly supported on the floor. If your fingers are resting on your keyboard, you're all set.

If not, you will have to make some adjustments. Try raising or lowering your chair as needed. If you're working on the desktop and under six feet tall, you will most likely need to raise your chair and add a foot rests to support your feet if you are using a kitchen chair You may need to add cushions to raise your body and also use a foot rest. As you can see in this picture, we have improvised the foot rez using a yoga foam roll. You may have one already, but like every other piece of equipment it must fit you and you're need to maintain a neutral posture at your workstation. Consider adjusting, adding or removing a keyboard tray.

If you have an adjustable keyboard tray, raise or lower the tray height until your forearms are at the desired angle. If you don't know if your keyboard tray is adjustable, take a good look. You may have a tray with full or limited adjustability and not even know it. If the desktop is too high, and your workspace will accommodate it. consider installing an adjustable keyboard tray. One that will provide The flexibility to adjust the height and tilt.

Remember, the keyboard tray should glide in and out freely. So if it hits the tops of your thighs, adjust it or remove it. If the normal 29 inch desk or table height is too low for you, due to your height, wheelchair access or other accommodation, consider raising it as an option. How To accomplish this will depend on the design of your desk or table
