Mantra basically means a sound, the origin of mantras is from a sound-sensitive language called Sanskrit. There are different levels of sound that creates energetic vibration within our bodies. If these sounds are used in certain ways you are able to experience different dimensions of energy through the vibrational attachment to the mantras sound. The meaning of the mantra is not as important as the sound it captures. When we feel its energy we become consciously aware of the vibration and where it manifests within the body.
If we do not have a repertoire of Sanskrit mantras we can achieve the same effects of the vibrational energy if we create our own mantra and repeat positive words throughout our meditation.
