DESCRIPTION: Metal Organic Frameworks (MOF) are a hybrid crystalline structure of organic and inorganic molecules, specifically metal ions and organic “linker” molecules. The structure of these frameworks can be altered to change key characteristics such as surface area and porosity. A proposed use for MOFs is the storage of hydrogen. As hydrogen molecules can be stored in the atomic sized pores of certain materials, MOFs are proposed to be able to aid in storing more hydrogen per cubic centimetre of space.
