Hi, I'm Karen from the photography playground, we will come full circle in this one. We started with the exposure triangle and worked our way through photographing with the camera app in different light situations. In composition, it all comes together, and it needs to come together in one single moment. Entire genres in photography are based on the decisive moment. a photographer's reputation of being able to capture the perfect moment is famous. It is the ability to press the shutter at the precise moment all the elements fall into place, especially in photographing people the moment is very important.
It is moments I'm looking for when I'm photographing people, the expression on a face the connection between people that is showing in a touch or a look, the moment someone passes by creating the perfect composition with the surroundings. It's moments that can transform the ordinary into the remarkable. Now the thing was moments is that it's a little hard to teach there. No theory and there are no rules. But I would like to give you some guidelines. It's being aware and attentive, working the scene and shooting through the moment.
You do not chase the moment you need to anticipate. You have to be receptive and open and let it come to you. The moment is given to you and you want to be ready to recognize it and to receive it. After a while you have sharpened your antennas and developed a little thing called intuition. You will know when it comes to make it a bit more tangible. I want to give you another look behind the scenes that this was a busy scene.
It was clear to me that this elderly woman would be my subject because I was fascinated by the contrast between her delicate face and her enormous hands cutting open the fish. But there were a couple of people working with her and they were walking in and out of the frame, making it difficult to make her stand out. I just waited for the moment where she'd be alone. And here it is. The moment it all comes together. She's the only one in the frame making it clear it's about her.
And on top of that the contrast between her face and her hands is most present. shooting through the moment means you keep going, even when you think the moment has been given to you, because you never know if there's more to come. And here I knew there was no more to gain from going on. This is the moment I stopped photographing and walked away. See you in the next lecture. And in the meantime, happy photographing
