Option Five: Wide Leg Position + Angled Foot Position
The difference between this defending position and the previous one is the angle of the feet. 
As you can see in Figure five, the feet are positioned outwards, at an angle of approximately 30.

Why is this angled foot position so important, indeed crucial?
The PARALLEL foot position has many negative repercussions:

My balance is not particularly good because my feet are parallel, which means my foot position is slightly unstable. It is too easy for me to mistakenly put my weight on my toes or the back of my heels. 
The force development is not good because few muscles groups are activated in this position.
The crossover step is more challenging to perform because I have minimal movement potential in the pelvis. It is locked.
