Objectives

Improve (zone) marking skills against a “right-facing” attacker running in the backspace. 
Improve marking and 1v1 skills against a “wrong-facing” attacker (chase defending position)
Improve 1v1 skills.

Organisation

Goalkeeper + 7-8 players vs. Goalkeeper + 7-8 players.  
Both teams play a 1-4-3 system (optionally 1-3-1-3 system).
Pitch size: 70 m (16 m to 16 m) x 65 m (pitch width). 

Procedure


Regular play with offside rule in force.



Variety

Playing with middle high pressing. 
Situational high pressing (e.g., throw-ins in the opponent's half and/or “5 m kick” from the goalie).
Requirement for the ball to be played forward within one or two touches after a backward pass.
Goalkeepers play long balls by 5 m kick and practice “offensive” marking to control...
