Option Three: Wide Leg Position + Parallel Foot Position
Take a look at Figure 3, which shows me defending with my feet wide apart and parallel to one another.
The prerequisites I need to work effectively are more readily accessible in this defending position.

But how much better is it?
This stance is a lot better for three main reasons:

I have a better balance than I do when I am in a narrow defending position. Firstly, I have a larger surface to stand on. Secondly, I can activate my leg muscles in a better way. However, my balance is still not particularly good because my feet are parallel, which means my foot position is slightly unstable. It is too easy for me to mistakenly put my weight on my toes or the back of my heels.
