Congratulations for your continued efforts to learn as much as you can to get a great job in any economy. Of all of the topics in our entire curriculum, it is hard to imagine one more important than this next discussion on the five phases of a winning job interview. Certainly, that is not to diminish other the topics that you have been learning. To the contrary, everything you have learned thus far is applicable and will continue to be so. However, the job interview is the most critical point of any job search. It is the job interview where the ultimate hiring decisions are made.
In the first section of this Learning Module, we covered the basics of job interviewing. Now, we are going to break down the interview itself into five phases. Regardless of what job you are seeking, how well you sell yourself during the job interview will determine whether you will get job offers or rejection letters. Professional salespeople are taught that there are key components of a successful sales call. They learn that if they miss any one of the components, they are likely to lose the sale. This section will discuss how embracing the same elements of successful selling in your interviewing will significantly increase your chances of getting job offers from your job interviews.
