DESCRIPTION: “I begin to speak only when I am certain what I’ll say is not better left unsaid.”- Cato
Statement. or Question?
Anything you say is either a Statement or a Question. Prior to communicating, decide whether what you wish to say is a Statement or a Question? Tip: Whenever possible, separate your thoughts in sentences that are one or the other, not both in the same breath.
The Power of Preface
Once you've decided on your communication type, what is your intention for the Statement or Question?
Statements
Statements are a stand-alone thought. They can be a:

Fact
Belief
Your Opinion

Statements typically have FOUR distinct intentions:

Venting
Stating an Opinion
Sharing Feedback
Setting a Boundary

Questions
Questions are a request for a response through one of these intentions:

Request for Clarification
Request for Additional Information
Asking for Help
Asking for guidance on How you Can Help

When we use a preface, we call out very clearly what it is we are trying to communicate....
