DESCRIPTION: When my kids were young and not in school, I managed to write every day. I took classes and connected with other writers through workshops, blogging, and local outings&mdash;so I was doing the work. No question.
But I finally came to the realization that I was always doing the work without&nbsp;doing anything with the work. Do you know what I mean? I kept saying, &ldquo;Oh I have to revise&rdquo; or &ldquo;I have to take a class on character development&rdquo; or &ldquo;I better put this story aside and start a new novel idea before I start querying&rdquo; and on and on.
Even though I knew, somewhere in the depths of my creative journey, I wanted to be a published novelist, I preferred the journey because it was safer and more familiar than my ultimate destination.
Fear is the number one reason people don&rsquo;t accomplish their goals. You might tell yourself it&rsquo;s about &ldquo;no time&rdquo; or &ldquo;lack of skills,&rdquo; but it&rsquo;s really about fear.
