DESCRIPTION: Quantity of sleep
How much sleep do you need? The national sleep foundation recommends 6-8 hours of sleep. But how do they come up with that number? One sleep cycle is approximately 90 minutes. If you complete 5 sleep cycles during the night, these equate to 400 minutes per night. Divide that into hours and you get 7 1⁄2 hours.

Quality of Sleep - Sleep deprivation

What is the easiest way to know if you are sleep deprived? It should take about 15-20 minutes to fall asleep.

• If you drop off to sleep immediately you are probably sleep deprived.
• If takes you more than 30 minutes, then you are also sleep deprived.
• If you have to hit the snooze button, then you are sleep deprived. If you
are doing that every day you are chronically sleep-deprived.
