In this section of the course, we're going to be discussing the web browser extension, adult blocker. Now, in all my years of doing it work, I've had plenty of parents come to me, basically requesting all the various ways that's out there that they can keep their children safe while searching the internet. And adult blocker can do just that. Let's go ahead and take a look at I'm going to open Google Chrome and I'm going to search for adult blocker. I'm going to select it from the first option. Now I stated before, adult blocker is basically a content filtering a service that can block malicious websites or other websites that you really wouldn't want your children on, we see that this particular plugin is a web filter that restricts the access of children and adolescence to undesirable sites such as certain words, a site where or things that contained violence.

So let's go back up to the top, I'm going to select Add to Chrome. I'm going to click Add extension. And it's going to go ahead and install on its own. We're going to go down here and select Install for Chrome. Because that's the web browser that we're using in this demonstration. Now, if you look up in the top right hand corner, you'll see a little blinking red baby here.

Let's go ahead and select this icon. Now we see that adult blogger wants us to create a password basically an administrative password that we can manage the websites from. I'm going to type something simple like hello. Going to select Save. Now once we're logging into adult blocker, we have two different options. We have a blacklist, we have a whitelist.

Now typically a blacklist, or the websites that aren't exactly. You could say dangerous for children, but it may be certain websites that you may not want your particular children on. Let's just say for an example yahoo.com. I'm going to go to Yahoo. I'm going to select Yahoo. Then I'm going to go up back up to the where the blinking red baby was.

Select that icon again and I'm going to Click Add to blacklist this type our administrative password again, and click OK. Okay, now, let's go ahead and select the gear icon for the options pin, type our administrator password again and click OK. Now as you can see yahoo.com has been added to the blacklist of adult blocker. So basically anytime someone attempts to go to yahoo.com this is the error message that they'll be presented with. And this is particularly just for blacklist and whitelist. On the other hand, let's just say it's a website, like yahoo.com that for some reason is flagged as a bit of a threat for children. Well, you can go in and allow an add this particular website to the whitelist the same way we add added to the blacklist.

So as in other particular websites out there that particularly this, this application states, it will protect your children from this is the error message that they'll be presented with. Let's go ahead and remove Yahoo comm from our blacklist. So we're gonna close out I hope you guys enjoyed this course. I will see you again in the next one.
