Welcome back friends, we are learning polymorphism and in the previous lecture we have learned about method overloading. And now here in this lecture we're going to learn about method overriding and the difference between two. So, let's recap. So, what is the method overriding? method overriding is present in between the child and the parent class. If a subclass or child class has the same method, as detailed in the parent class is known as method overriding.

The method name of the parent and the child class must be the same language may or may not be declared in the parent class or they may have been declared re declared or new definition has been added in the child class. It is called override. If a subclass provides mentation of the method that has been declared, the parent class is also called overland. There specification meters or generalized parameters in the parent class. And the specialization of those parameters is governed by Tasha. So, we here in example, we have two child class manager and Clark both inherit from the class employ employers a base class or parent class manager and clerk are charged or denied classes.

All three winters have the same all three classes have the same method called salary and the salary method in the employee class or the base class has some limited definition or declaration of variables, but the method of salary in manager has different functions of managers function and in declared it has a function. They have a specified features. As we all know all employees have a salary but manager have the principal Cash differential. So, it could be incorporated as a. So, there are certain rules we need to follow, when we are trying to implement a method overriding in Java. If a subclass or child class has the same method as declared in the parent class, the method must have the same name as the parent class.

That's why it is called overriding the method must have the same parameter as in the parent class. If it does not have the same parameter or same set of parameters or the same data type, it would not be it would be called as overloading greater than or right. There must be an is a relationship that we inherit as child parent or inherited inheritance. So here is an example of method overriding. We have a base class called vehicle, which has a method called run. It has a different implementation.

It currently displays a message on the screen which is running. Similarly, we have another class called bike two that extends or inherit our features of vehicle class. So, it has the same name method and without any return type as the parent class, it has different message displayed on the screen. So, when we create an object for the child class by class, it will display them a run method. Otherwise, we have the override of the same method as the parent class. So it is supported here and we can do so we do not need to declare everything from scratch.

Certain features can be inherited directly. So we have learned about overloading and overriding so what is the difference? The overloading we have different methods with the same name, but with different number of parameters or the different return types, already, we have the same method, the same name regarding difference, but we add certain things or do certain things we add a specification in the child classes. overloading where more methods share the same name, it occurs during compile time overloading actually perform is performed using a compile time and overriding others during the run time. So, here is an example of overloading and overriding we have already learned about the things are we have different objects that are being implemented using different methods. But overriding we have different classes, following reference set of rules and we have different methods with the same name, same return type and same number of variables.

Lesson overloading. We have same method with same name, but different number of variables or other different data types. So this will work, method overriding everything and all solution overriding and overloading both would be very efficient and useful in creating generous programs. Time preventing the wrong solution till then keep learning and keep going ahead
