DESCRIPTION: About lesson
The Solar Guru – Yajnavalkya
Yajnavalkya is one of the important Rishi and Yogi Vedanta and Yoga philosophies. He is the most famous of the Upanishadic sages, to whom most of the Brihadaranayaka, the longest of the older Upanishads is attributed, and also known to be the main teacher of the Satapatha Brahmana, the most famous of the Brahmana (ritualistic) works. He is known to have received his Vedic mantras and teachings directly from the Sun God as Aditya.
Yogi Yajnavalkya, wrote Yajnavalkya Samhita which is some of the important traditional text on Yoga after the Yoga Sutras, widely used in Vaishnava sects in India, including the Ramanuja and Krishnamachara. The Yogi Yajnavalkya’s teachings reflect a strong solar symbolism. It has extensive teachings on Om and the Gayatri mantra. Brihad Yogi Yajnavalkya Smriti from Kaivalya Dham IX.88, states: “the Sun, the Self of the world, is the Prana placed in the heart.”
