The Vedas

There are references to Sūryanamaskāra rituals or practices in Vedas in form of hymns, rituals, mantras, and offerings. It is one of the commonly performed rituals by many Hindus even today to begin the day by chanting some mantras and offering water, flowers, and food to Suriya or the sun for health and prosperity.
These Vedic rituals were external as well as internal in the forms of physical offerings, prayers, mantras, and praises of the sun.
