Relaxation or Shavasana and Surya Namaskars
According to Swamiji Satyananda (Yoga Nidra) &ldquo;Relaxation is essential in everyone&rsquo;s life. It is a release of tension in both the mind and body for a period of time to allow complete rest and revitalization. This is the whole reason to sleep, but because of the tension-filled lives that most people now lead in the daytime, sleep no longer refreshes us sufficiently.&rdquo;
According to Yogis Shavasana or relaxation is one of the most advanced aspects of Hatha yoga where our body and mind are fully relaxed, where healing and rejuvenation manifest. The yogic idea is to go as far as experiencing separation from our body as in death. Shavasana literally translates as corpse pose. This activates our parasympathetic nervous system and brings the following changes-

Slower and relaxed heart rate.
Deeper, slower, and rhythmic breathing.
Reduced or balanced blood pressure.
Reduced muscle tension.
Rejuvenation of vital organs...
