I am excited that you're ready to get started with the class. An introduction video has really helped me to introduce who I am to somebody that I've just connected with. I use this as a post on my LinkedIn every once in a while, use that message and share it in a message. The most important thing that I've gotten together is what I'm going to say. You prepare it in advance so that you know what you want to share. You don't get off track, and you keep this to about a minute or a minute and a half.
Let's think about what LinkedIn is basically a big networking event, and good networkers do not go up to somebody, and then just spit out everything that they can do for that person without at least taking the time to get to know that person as well. But the best networkers may give themselves an introduction, but then they listen To what the other person has their needs, their wants, they ask questions to or when they're ready to sell something they've gotten to know them, they have more of a relationship with them. And better yet that person knows them. So they've built that know like and trust factor. And when you're ready to sell, you know the person so you know, what needs that they have, what their pain points are, and you can better sell to them. So created a worksheet so that you can go through and create what you want to say, helps to keep you on track has a methodology of going through to say exactly what you want to say, and then closes it out.
Let me look show you my introduction. Hi, I'm Ella McDowell, your social butterfly. And I want to thank you for being one of my LinkedIn connections. I love to help the Small Business This owner and the new entrepreneur, when they're overwhelmed with all the online marketing that they need to learn to get their business up and running. So I do that through my online marketing GPS, my OMG community. There, I have a website full of videos, I do a monthly webinar with my community, and a secret Facebook group where you could ask me questions directly about how to online market your business on LinkedIn to connect with you, and help you here as much as I can want to be able to share your videos and your expertise, and I hope you'll share some of mine.
So I look forward to getting to know you more, and I hope that you will learn a lot from me as well. Thank you so much for watching the video and I'll see you soon. Alright, that is my introduction and I tweak it a little bit. So now let's look at the worksheet to where you can decide what you're going to say in your introduction. Here it is So here's the worksheet, connecting quickly on LinkedIn, give you a few little hints and tips. But let's look through, you can see this first thing.
Introduce yourself. Hi, I'm Ellen McDowell, the founder of the online marketing GPS. So you can remember your name, you get that out there. And you've already started talking and gotten past the jitters. Tell about your expertise, you know, two to three sentences that helped to set yourself up as an expert in your field. Why should they look to you instead of somebody else?
And again, about your education and expertise, set yourself apart as that expert. So how long have you been in business? What is your education? do that first? Then I like to tell people why I am on LinkedIn what I share, I like to share good marketing materials and especially that you look forward to hearing what what they are going to share. Maybe it is even asking if they want an endorsement in a certain area that is on their LinkedIn to let you know reply to that and so that you can go and give them an endorsement if you have a tagline fit that in there, and then close it out with a thank you for watching the video.
So here is the worksheet. You can see I've had it to where you can fill it out, has a little smile on the top tape this somewhere near your camera. And again, just make it a bullet list so that you're not reading it. You don't want somebody to be reading to you. So practice it. Practice it until you are tired of hearing it and practice it and Till you are not pausing, or you don't have a case of the arms to where you know what you're going to say and you're confident that you can smile and give them the information that they want.
So, fill out this worksheet, make it part of your project, upload it here. Let's review it, and then I'll get you ready to start filming your information in the next video.
