Great, you've finished your worksheet and you're ready to move on. Now it's time to start filming. And whether you are going to use a true video camera, your webcam, or just your cell phone, this is going to work fine for you. The most important tip that I can have is to put your camera at eye level. Many times I've seen people doing recordings and they're looking down, they've put they're using a webcam off of their laptop, and it's down on the table. And so not only do I not like being looked down upon, but your ceiling is probably not that interesting.

So get your camera up so that you can have it straight on and either find a plain background or you know something interesting in your background that tell us a little bit more about you. The reason I do not use Anything in my background is because I thought I had a really nice setup, I was in front of a card catalog. And too many people asked me about the card catalog behind me than they did about the stuff that I was talking about. So I went to my background after that, but you don't have to just find somewhere in your office that's well lit. You want light behind you. So whether it is a window, or a layup had light behind you your camera at eye level and a good background.

Let me show you some more tips and tricks that I've learned over the years. Here I've stacked the camera on top of books. That is the cheapest trait, but I know because chances are you have books standing around somewhere. So get your books up until you get it to the right level for your eyes. Here, I found a cheap tripod checking out of Walgreens, I think it was all of $5. So you can find just some inexpensive tools again, that would go up.

I also stacked it on books to get it at eye level. It allowed me to take the videos by myself, I didn't have to have somebody there taking up two people's time. And so it was a very handy tool and not expensive. Anybody could afford to do that. Here's one of my original setups for my videos. It was in the middle of my living room.

But you can see that I was sitting down. I had my laptop set up on books that got the camera that was being used at eye level. I love her for sitting down and it worked There you see the plain background. But here is what I do now, and no judging. But I'm going to show you the backstage. It's kind of messy, but I have my light stand on top of a piece of plywood that is on top of my ironing board.

And so the webcam is just clamped there to get it to my eye level. I also have my laptop up on a laptop stand so that it is at eye level as well. So using some tools that I bought, and some tools that I had to get these videos going so you can do that too. I take my videos Danny up, my energy is better. Remember LinkedIn is just a networking event and you never Standing up, so maybe you're more comfortable standing up. Or if you're more comfortable sitting down, do that as well.

But your diaphragm works better if you're standing up and you can enunciate. If you have somebody there to take it with you, then you probably aren't going to have as much editing to do because they can start and stop it without you having to stop to go press the start and the record buttons. If you don't have that partner, then hit start record. Stand back, get in place, take a deep breath and smile for two seconds. That's going to give you kind of an editing clue as to where to start your editing. Speak slowly.

Again, I've told you to practice that worksheet, everything that's on it several times. So go through that worksheet, speak and enunciate. Make sure that people are listening to what you have to say. Finish it. Thank them for watching. Take a deep breath and smile for two seconds.
