Now let's talk about how to use focus to get into the most ideal state of work, which is sometimes referred to as flow. And flow is basically when you're just working at your best firing on all cylinders, and you're just doing your literally optimal work. How do you get there, it's actually, in theory, relatively simple, you have to have a singular focus, your full attention has to be on the task at hand. You have to be enthusiastic and passionate and interested in the task at hand so that you can really give it your all. And the task itself has to be nearly maximally challenging, really challenging you to the limit, but still within your abilities. So it's either if you want yourself to get into the state of flow, or if you have employees, or people you manage anyone them to get into the state of flow, you have to manage them in these ways.
The tasks you give people, yourself and others, they have to be very challenging, but within their abilities. They you have to get them to the point of being enthusiastic and optimistic about their work. And you have to educate people about the value of seeing having a single focus. And that's going to produce, not all the time, but often is going to get you into your ideal state of flow during which you can do your most optimal, uninterrupted, amazing work that after you finish, you look back and you you will be like, wow, I really did a lot and it's great. So that's how you use focus, and a little bit of emotional intelligence. And if you need to get yourself to a two to one enthusiastic state about your work, and eventually get into the state of flow and choose the right type of man almost maximally challenging work, for everything to come together and for you to do your best.
