The next step in emotional intelligence and becoming a good leader of yourself and of others, is once you've conquered self awareness, self management, the next step is to do it to others. And that's through empathy, empathy. Let's define it. It's being sensitive, aware, and the ability to understand the thoughts and feelings, that's thoughts and feelings of another person. And even sometimes feel the feelings of another person. If you get close enough, you can actually start feeling the feelings.

We'll talk about that in later lectures. So there are three types of evidence of empathy that I want to talk about and great leaders and great people, people who have great emotional intelligence have all three. The first two are understanding what people think their mental picture of something. The second one is understanding what people feel their emotions. See how different Those two are. And the third is not just knowing that, but your ability to influence or help people given the information and items one or two.

Once you understand how they feel and how they see the world, how they think it's the ability to press the right buttons in those individuals to control and influence them. If it's in a work environment, it's usually to perform better to achieve more to get them to move away from any negative feelings, they might have anything that inhibits their work, and get them to be more optimistic and positive about their work and to get also people to be more productive in their work. Or sometimes learning new skills that will or techniques that will make them better or productive at their work, or make them better team players. Right. So instead of being selfish, how do we get To be selfless and team players, if you can influence, if you can get a strong handle on items one or two, one and two, which is understanding their mental model how they logically see the world and how they feel about it, you can then channel that into getting them to be as good as possible person you leave, what if it's, of course it's if it's in, they said in a business setting, maybe it's part of your team.

If it's in a sales setting, it's of course to get the person to buy something from you, if you know what triggers to, to kind of invoke in them, what what makes them tick, what's really speaking to them, then you know how to sell to them. And if it's in your daily life, of course, you want people who are close to you, you want them to have better lives, and sometimes they need a push. And if you want to influence them for the better, then having these kinds of empathy and being able to use them is really a deal for you to be As a leader in the situation so in the next lectures, we'll talk about how to actually boost and learn these types of empathy so that you can start using them.
